BDS
BDS full form is Bachelor of Dental Surgery which is an undergraduate programme in the Dental field. The BDS course duration is 5 years including one year of internship. In India, BDS course is regulated by the Dental Council of India where all dentists have to register to practice after the completion of their study. BDS course is required for candidates who want to work as dentists in government or private hospitals. BDS course is primarily concerned with training and introducing candidates to Dental sciences and operations.
For BDS course admission candidates must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) subjects with at least 85% from a recognised institute. The BDS course curriculum consists of four years of classroom instruction and one year of mandatory rotating internship. The Dental Council of India regulates the BDS course curriculum (DCI). Students must appear and qualify in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
